I’ve been selected as a finalist for the Miami New Times’ MasterMind Awards. With a bit of luck, I may be selected to receive a $1500 award! Keep your fingers crossed!
I recently did a great interview with 944 Magazine. I sat down to lunch with Jason Jeffers and then brought out the band for an accompanying sunrise photo shoot on the beach with Serg Alexander.
I think this is the best interview I’ve done yet, Jason seemed to really “get” much of what I had to say. Read onward; you might learn something!

Edit: 944 Now has a version of the article online.
I was recently interviewed by Miami Magazine (yes, that domain reads modern luxury purrrr) for what turned out to be their Best of the City 2011 issue.
I had a lovely time talking to the interviewer, Nikki Novo! Unfortunately, I have to make a quick informational correction publicly, which she apparently did not quite understand1. The article states I’m playing Ultra Music Festival 2011, as of writing I am not booked for this year’s festival2. I performed twice at UMF 2010.
Alert readers will, however, note that they included proper attribution to the photo, a rarity! (Photo Stian Roenning, Styling Aban Sonia, Makeup Naomi Robles)

1. In Nikki’s defense, the phone reception quality left much to be desired ;-)
2. Any parties interested in booking Panic Bomber are encouraged to contact Wes Samuel of Madison House agency.
Miami New Times’ Crossfade says:
The title track reeks of such electropop sinfulness that if it were Lady Gaga singing, the song would have already reached the upper echelons of the Billboard Hot 100. Meanwhile, “Can’t Sleep” switches gears by laying down an Ibiza-ish house vibe spiked with the Bomber’s signature falsetto vocals and a live horn section.
In the end, it’s that kind of complexity that sets Panic Bomber apart from the local crop of electro-poppers.

Miami New Times’ Best Miami Albums of 2010
Discipline EP is available for only $3.
Art Basel hits Miami every year like a ten-tonne truck. People watching and free boozing seems to be more popular than the actual art faires in many cases, but hey, who am I to judge?
Miami New Times’ Crossfade writes:
If you’re like us, anytime our choice for 2009 Best New Electronica Artist hits a local stage, it qualifies as a notable performance. But in honor of Art Basel, Haig and Transit are offering you something extra special: Panic Bomber will be performing with a live band.
Intrigued? Truth be told, this incarnation of Panic Bomber’s setup makes perfect sense, considering his nebulous techno fusions always feature vocals and keys and a three-piece horn section. Not to mention, mastermind Haig scored a degree in music from the University of Miami and spent a generous amount of time rocking out with indie outfits before becoming a electronic demigod. [Emphasis mine.]
You hear that? I’m a grammatically incorrect electronic demigod. Needless to say, as both a grammar Nazi and an atheist, this puts me in an uncomfortable position.
City Link named me the best electronic act in their Best of South Florida Entertainment article.
Manning the decks under the Panic Bomber moniker for less than two years, Richard Haig has already become the best electronic act going in a town known almost entirely for the bleeps and bloops put out by the DJs of its gratingly elitist nightclubs. That’s something we love about Panic Bomber — you’re more likely to see him at hassle-free clubs such as the Vagabond or Grand Central than you are at the line-around-the-block, douchebag-at-the-ropes places dotting South Beach like herpes sores on a hooker’s lips. … If you don’t shake your ass to Panic Bomber’s beats, you probably need an ass transplant.
I recently remixed Kidstreet‘s new single, “X” for the Nettwerk music group. Today it was posted on MTV Canada‘s music front page. However, ironically I’m not allowed to listen to my own music due to “copyright restrictions.”

MTV Canada Drops: Kidstreet ‘X’
To add insult to injury, they even truncated the song title. My remix is actually titled, X (Panic Bomber’s Hard & Trendy All Night Long Remix).
If you do live in Canada go ahead and check it out. This will allegedly make its way south down to MTV.com eventually.
